Welcome to Food For Neighbors!

Hunger is an unwelcome guest this holiday season. Click here to learn more about how you can help.

More than 5,800 students are receiving food support at 42 area middle and high schools with Food For Neighbors!

At Food For Neighbors, we're helping students who struggle with hunger.  Through our Red Bag Program, we provide a platform for middle and high schools to engage volunteers from their local community to work together to collect and distribute food every week. Our program began in Herndon, VA, and has since expanded throughout Northern Virginia. Our mission is to reach even more students in more schools. Learn more about how we started, where we are today and how you can help!

You Make a Difference!

Since Nov 2016, our Red Bag Program has collected over 402,000 lbs of food for local students. We now have more than 2,500 households participating in the Red Bag Program, plus more than 2,600 volunteers driving, sorting and distributing food throughout the year.

Look How We've Grown!

At our first collection in November 2016, we collected 550 lbs of food from 60 participating households. We provided food to two local Herndon schools, and we have grown to support more than 5,800 students at 42 middle and high schools in Northern VA (click here for a list of schools).
