There are now more than 650 kids receiving weekly food support
at 9 area middle and high schools!
Food For Neighbors is a non-profit organization helping to feed students who struggle with hunger after school, on weekends,
and during school holidays. We provide local middle and high schools with individual meals and snack items to distribute during these times when students might otherwise go hungry. We
connect with their social workers and help the schools set up a weekend snack program to distribute the food.
We rely on community support and in-kind donations from individuals, area businesses, local churches, and stores. We distribute Red Food Bags with a list of
items needed and then collect the bags bimonthly on a Saturday.
Our program began in Herndon where the local community has quickly responded to the need for food at our middle and high schools. Now our students are benefitting
weekly from the consistent and reliable source of donated food. Neighboring schools have heard about our organization and are now asking if we can bring our program to their middle and high
schools.
We are excited to expand into other schools in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties! Our goal is to end hunger for middle and high school students who live with
food-insecurity.
We appreciate your continued support!
