Welcome to Food For Neighbors!

More than 5,000 students are receiving food support at 41 area middle and high schools with Food For Neighbors!

At Food For Neighbors, we're helping students who struggle with hunger.  Through our Red Bag Program, we provide a platform for middle and high schools to engage volunteers from their local community to work together to collect and distribute food every week. Our program began in Herndon, VA, and has since expanded throughout Northern Virginia. Our mission is to reach even more students in more schools. Learn more about how we started, where we are today and how you can help!

You Make a Difference!

Since Nov 2016, our Red Bag Program has collected over 379,000 lbs of food for local students. We started supporting two local Herndon schools and have grown to support 41 schools in Northern Virginia. We now have more than 2,100 households participating in the Red Bag Program, plus more than 1,900 volunteers driving, sorting and distributing food throughout the year.

Look How We've Grown!

At our first collection in November 2016, we collected 550 lbs of food from 60 participating households.
