At Food For Neighbors, we're working closely with our school principals, social workers and parent liaisons in Fairfax and Loudoun counties to support the schools' efforts to provide weekend food to their students. We invite you to get involved.

At Food For Neighbors, we're helping students who struggle with hunger. Through our Red Bag Program, we provide a platform for middle and high schools to engage volunteers from their local community to work together to collect and distribute food every week. Our program began in Herndon, VA, and has since expanded into the Springfield, Falls Church and Fort Hunt areas of Fairfax County, as well as neighboring schools in Loudoun County. Our mission is to reach even more students in more schools. Learn more about how we started, where we are today and how you can help!
The next bag collection is
Saturday, Nov 7.
Please leave your bag out
no later than 8:30 a.m..

For September 2020, we collected 12,328 lbs of food from over 870 participating households. We also "filled" 220 Virtual Red Bags from online donations. This was another record-breaking collection for Food For Neighbors!
Since Nov 2016, Food For Neighbors has collected over 112,300 lbs of food for local students.
We started supporting two local Herndon schools and have grown to support 21 schools in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. We now have over 1,200 households,
plus more than 650 drivers and volunteers, participating in the collection program throughout the year.
At our first collection in November 2016, we collected 550 lbs of food from 60 participating households.
Local businesses, faith-based organizations, school groups and foundations are also making a difference by partnering with Food For Neighbors, donating resources, pledging monetary gifts, hosting food drives or hosting fundraisers.
