Food For Neighbors is making headlines!

There are now more than 900 kids receiving weekly food support
at 16 area middle and high schools!
Food For Neighbors is a non-profit organization (located in Herndon, VA) helping to feed students who struggle with hunger after school, on weekends, and during school holidays. We provide local middle and high schools with individual meals and snack items to distribute during these times when students might otherwise go hungry. We connect with their social workers and help the schools set up a weekend snack program or food pantry to distribute the food.
We provide the platform for schools to engage their local community to donate food and gather volunteers that help with picking up donations, sorting the food and dispersing to schools in their area. This is done through our Red Bag Program where we distribute Red Bags with a list of items needed and then collect the bags bimonthly on a Saturday. We also provide support and marketing materials for schools to engage their community to recieve in-kind donations from individuals, area businesses, local churches, and stores.
Our program began in Herndon, VA where the local community quickly responded to the need for food at our middle and high schools. Now our students are benefitting weekly from the consistent and reliable source of donated food. FFN has expanded into the Springfield, VA area, neighboring schools in Loudoun County and most recently the Falls Church, VA area. As more schools hear about FFN, we are met with requests to bring the program to their schools. We are currently launching in the Fort Hunt, VA area.
We are excited to expand into other schools in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties! Our goal is to end hunger for middle and high school students who live with food-insecurity.
We appreciate your continued support!
Since the first Red Bag Collection in November 2016, Food For Neighbors® has collected over 68,000 lbs of food for local students. We started supporting two local Herndon schools and have grown to support 16 schools in Fairfax and Loudoun counties.
We now have over 800 households and over 200 volunteers participating in the collection program.
